Methodology

A deterministic starting point, with the inputs in view.

The calculator applies one annual return and inflation assumption across the selected timeline. It adds modeled savings while working and compares projected retirement income with spending after retirement.

Two-person mode models separate ages, wages, retirement dates, Social Security estimates, and workplace contributions on one household balance. It does not yet model market sequence risk, account-specific tax treatment, Medicare, or required minimum distributions.

Manual inputs first.

Your draft is saved only in this browser. Anonymous inputs are sent to the RetireStride calculation API when you run a projection and are not stored as a plan unless you create an account and choose Save this plan.

No bank login, Plaid connection, payment method, or Social Security number is requested.
